Perched above Gilsland village, the Heart of Hadrian's Wall country, sits West Nichold Cottage, with spectacular views stretching from Hadrian's Wall, to the Lake District Fells & Scotland.

This is the perfect base to walk Hadrian's Wall, with Roman forts just minutes away, and to explore peaceful Northumberland, with quiet open roads and rolling countryside. The cottage is situated on our 500 acre farm at Wardrew.

The cottage which dates back to the 1600's was a fortified dwelling, built in typical Bastle House style, and has been painstakingly restored and converted.

We have retained many original features, gnarled oak beams, arrow slit windows, sark boarded ceilings and hayloft steps.

The farm is full of life this time of year. With a recent visit this year from the spectacular Hummingbird Hawk-moth.

The ideal place to get together with family and friends.
